Emissions and ECU mapping
Discussion
Not sure if this is the best place to post this, but hoping someone can help.
I've built a Mini Marcos based around the A-Series engine of an MPi mini. I've had problems getting the (modified) engine through emissions. The car is fitted with the SC fuel injection system (https://www.specialist-components.co.uk/index.php/shop/classic-mini-performance-parts/classic-mini-injection-and-management/rover-mini-mpi-throttle-body-kit.html) and wide band lambda kit (https://www.specialist-components.co.uk/index.php/compact-wideband-lambda-sensor.html). The kit comes with an SCS Delta programmable ECU (https://www.scs-delta.co.uk/).
The car has been mapped by a company in Leeds, but has failed the IVA emissions for high CO (HC & Lambda were good). What I'm struggling to find is someone local to me (Newcastle) who is able/willing to map the car, and having the car transported repeatedly to Leeds is prohibitively expensive.
So can anyone recommend a tuning shop equipped with exhaust emissions testing and rolling road based in the North East that I could call and discuss if they're able to help?
Thanks in advance.

That doesn't really make a lot of sense. Do you have the actual test results ?I've built a Mini Marcos based around the A-Series engine of an MPi mini. Generally if lambda is good, CO should be good too. So it's kinda weird that they say CO was high.
SC is not a common ecu, you may struggle.
You could try contacting "Evoluzione" on this forum, near sure that's his user name. Lancias are his thing, but I know some years ago he did partner up with SC for them to supply some ecu's for cars he works at. It's a long shot, but I believe he's in the Yorkshire area so might be of some help.

Thanks for the replies, and sorry for the delay in getting back to you.
I've researched and come across some more information regarding the required IVA emissions requirement. My engine (A-Series mini engine) achieved in its last incarnation, Euro 2 compliance. The standard that IVA wants me to achieve is roughly the equivalent to Euro 4. To that end I don't think I'll ever be able to achieve the limits they're after.
The problem is - DVSA will only accept confirmation of the age of the engine (and therefore the standard that is to apply) from the original manufacturer - Rover. See my problem?
I've contacted the British Motor Museum who informed me that when they asked the new Chinese owners for the relevant records for their archives, they were informed by the Chinese that these had all been destroyed. BMM therefore only have records going up to 1982.
I've raised another question with DVSA, so am hoping for a response early in the new year.
But thanks again for your input.

But surely, that would be with carbs etc from back in the day, so perhaps the engine would be better with a more modern ECU/Fuel injection etc, or do they just bo by that mechanical lump when it was produced rather than "new" figures?E-bmw said:

IVA don't care, your problem is your problemAlthough obviously later cars up to their end had fuel injection, catalytic converter etc.
You'd have thought Heritage would have engine numbers and could confirm age etc, no doubt there are plenty of groups who can too. Although sounds like IVA/DVSA w**kers want to be awkward as to who tells them the age
Although not sure how it would fare if you're telling them it's old, wanting old carb based results, when presenting it with fuel injected setup. Not sure how they treat that kinda thing
