Just after a bit of fault diagnosis as I know nothing about engines. I’ve got a Citroen dispatch van which keeps losing power albeit just for a second. Whenever I get to just over 2000 revs the rev counter dips slightly, the engine revs a little then it seems to right itself and cracks on. I thought my clutch was going but it’s always pretty much at the same point/revs. It’s got 60000 on the clock and had no work done other than servicing

It could be a sticking EGR valve.

You seem to be saying the rev counter dips while the actual revs increase. It would be odd for the gauge reading not to match what the engine is doing, and that might indicate an electrical problem,

Most engine related problems would cause the engine to hesitate. If this problem causes the revs to rise, perhaps something in the transmission is slipping. Is the transmission automatic or manual?

If the problem is repeatable and you are not prepared to fix it yourself, it would be best to take it to a reliable garage for diagnosis. They can let you know whether it's reasonable to keep driving it, and give you some sense of the sort of bill you might be facing to fix it.

It’s definitely going to a garage as I can’t fix it myself. I was just hoping to get an idea so I can prepare for the price

Based on the above no one could possibly guess, there are so many things it could be from a a plug come out of its socket to an engine rebuild.

A full diagnosis will help but that in itself could be a couple of 100 quid if it hard to trace.
