MOT failure or not.
Discussion
Morning all, the mechanic I take me cars to has found a lot of soot over the back of the engine (2.2 civic). Don't know where it's come from and can't smell fumes in or out of the car.
He seems to think it might be an MOT failure. Is it? Anyone else had this issue and it's passed or failed it's MOT?

Several MOT testers answer questions on this thread therefore you might want to post your question there.

Well as soot can only be coming from part of the exhaust system then It should be easy to find & yes, a leaking exhaust is likely to fail an MOT.He seems to think it might be an MOT failure. Is it? Anyone else had this issue and it's passed or failed it's MOT?
