Can anyone point me in the direction of reputable individuals/companies who can complete driveshaft refurbishments?

Long story short, 987 needs a part on the gearbox side, so I bought 2 x used units, intent to get refurbed as the PG’s will likely need to come out anyway. Had somewhere to refurbish them through a PCGB member. They went into administration and sent them back.

Help is very much appreciated.

Cheers

What sort of refurbishment is actually required and why is it a specialist job - these will just be a typical driveshaft with CV joints and boots are they not?

Can you not just strip, clean and re grease and fit new boots or else install new CV's - I expect there will be some commonality with other VAG products?

Do them yourself, its a messy if not complicated job. I've done loads over the years. Some tips, do one CV joint at a time, if you mix bits up you'll take ages puzzling it out. Get several pots of a good moly grease you'll use loads. Same as brake cleaner, not just for the parts but for you afterwards. Technically you're not meant to swap sides so keep a not of which way they came off. Always replace the boots, if you don't you'll be doing it again in a few months. Get some zippy freezer bags to keep bits in. Get rubber or nitrile gloves the grease gets embedded in your skin & your partner won't thank you for leaving prints everywhere. The best roasting tin & a brush with the bristles shortened is ideal for cleaning it all. A tin of satin black aerosol paint is great to protect the shafts.

Finally heck how much new ones are & also parts availability. Porsche 944 all the bits are available. Porsche Boxster one end isn't available as a spare.
