I have a 2006 1.6 a3 the spark plug blew out once taking the threads out. Then about a week later it did it again but left the metal bit you put a socket on in the block and blowing the spark plug out. Both times it was cylinder 2. Any ideas? The car is bone stock and ran fine for ages

st person fitting or removing them ! The engine itself will never blow a plug out unless someone has f**ked the threads in the first place.

And if anyone is silly enough to try and screw it back in without repairing the threads.....well of course it's going to keep blowing out

I do feel there's a bit of info we're just not getting here yet.

Definitely

The need a proper repair depending on the compression of the engine you may get away with a timesert inset in place but can be tricky depending on access and the issue of debris falling into the engine

From how i read the op, the middle is blowing out of the plug leaving the outside part inplace, if this is right it can only be faulty plug, but will say in 40 odd yearsof working on engines ive never seen this happen.

Me neither, but that was also my interpretation.

Taking the threads with it, would suggest otherwise.
