Not mine ... honest
Local friendly garage has a ford b max that is a non starter.
It appears that another garage replaced the abs pump and chucked the original.

How would you get round this? Can the immobiliser be taken out of the equation? Would putting a different ECU with a matching abs pump work?

Is it a non starter due to a security issue or something else?

They think that the abs pump is part of the immobiliser, the other place removed it and chucked it

Try a diagnostic scan with Forscan and see if it comes back with any codes/messages that might indicate an issue? I'm thinking module comms or immobiliser faults that may be preventing the ECU from engaging the starter motor?

Would help with narrowing down where the issue might lie perhaps.

Replacment ABS/DSC module may need nothing more than coding correctly to vehicle, could be as simple as the engine ecu not allowing cranking due to missing clutch or brake pedal activity for cranking motor over, this stuff is all networked so cross comms is necessary often , a decent scanner should tell you if module coding probs exist on the network anyway like mentioned on this thread already

As far as I can work out it would be a as-built file, if the components is now in the bin it can't be scanned.

I'm trying to figure out what you would need to swap to get it going?
Presumably from another complete car ECU+abs + gawd knows what

On them check simple free stuff first.
Ecu in passenger side front foot well often get plugs dislodged by passengers feet.
Can cause crank non start and no crank.
If cranking scan for codes if immobiliser codes present clear then and hit top of dash above clocks very hard. If starts it will be solder on board at the back of the clocks
It will have dried out.
Will need resoldering 10 min job before going down the parts cannon route
Could be wiring disturbed or dodgy earth.
Cannot see how abs will have anything to do with the immobiliser.
Others with more idea will be along shortly.
But free stuff is always good to try

Speak to a remapper/dpf removal/mileage correction specialist , they usually have the tools to overcome component protection/immo problems in ways that dealers and parts swapper mechanics claim are impossible .
