I bought my daughter a 2005 Toyota Yaris 1.3VVTi as her first car.
Drives very nicely but has a very high idle when it is warmed up.

Cold start idle is about 1000rpm, which sounds right, and i would expect this to drop to 700-800rpm once the engine is warmed up but instead the idle rises to around 1400rpm.

I gave the car a light service - oil, filter, air filter, spark plugs - but it hasn't made any difference.

Googling doesn't seem to throw up much help - most issues seem to be with low idle and stalling, which is the opposite of what i have got!

A stuck iacv could cause symptoms like that. I don't know that car, but on some cars it's common for them to get coked up and need cleaning occasionally.

Check for vac leaks too, perished hoses etc.

Bit of investigation last night and i think it is the idle control valve is either stuck or kaput.
Going to give it a clean and see if that works.

Thought I'd look up how much a replacement would be, and I'm having an absolute nightmare trying to find the part for sale!
I have the Toyota part number (22270-23020) and the OE manufacturer part number (Denso 136800-1702) and still can't find the part on any of the usual sites - ebay, ECP, GSF etc. It looks like I would have to buy one off of Aliexpress, which doesn't seem right. There must be thousands of these 1.3 Yaris in existence, they're not a rare car!

I would only fit genuine or a proven equivalent for parts like this.
Most aftermarket stuff is junk.

I had the same problem with a similar aged Civic. I was able to remove the valve and clean it with carb cleaner. Totally fixed

Sometimes the ECU can increase idle rpm in order to assist the alternator to charge the battery when they are wearing down. Have you checked the battery voltages ?
