Showing my age here.
I've car with stainless exhaust, manifolds, pipes silencers, the lot. Sounds great, very healthy on a 20 mile run out.
On a 250 run out, the drone starts to get a bit wearing at times. Wondering about an add-on silencer to the tail pipes such as those items used to get cars below a certain Db reading in competition, to take the worst of it. What are my best options? Ideally something I can just add or remove in a few minutes. Demon Tweeks have a few things listed as well as the usual stuff on ebay.

I'd say they would look stupid and make no difference.

Exactly what is the design/makeup of the current exhaust ? Changes to do it properly, are more likely of success.

Check that the exhaust isn't bearing on an underside protrusion?

^^^ Wot 'e said.

I once had an r53 mini & the drone from that was caused by unnecessary tension from the centre mounting point.

Make sure all rubbers/mounts are not under tension, they should be sat in a neutral position to allow vibrations to be taken up in the rubber rather than transmitted to the chassis/cab.

Interesting comments re exhaust hangers.
A good inspection underneath reveals a lot. The whole system, twin parallel pipes, one from each side of the V6 are pretty rigid for most of the length, held at the manifold at the front, hung by a shared mount ahead of the rear axle (there's a steel rod joins the two pipes which are around 300mm apart at this point) with a rubber mount centrally placed, and rubber hangers at the rear adjacent to the only silencers on the system. (I know, should have taken a photo).
There is very little give in the whole system, the hangers being solid rubber with a hole, rather than the more traditional rings etc
It would look to be a professionally made/bought set up. It runs very close to the car chassis/body in two places but doesn't actually touch.

Photo would help smile

Perhaps add some flexi, and make it all a little less rigid.

And if there are only two silencers, sounds like one per pipe/side ? then simple solution is add more.

You could start about balance tubes, crossovers, resonance tubes etc etc.....but the above is the simple stuff.

Or buy some ear pugs...
Going to look at slightly less rigid mounts too, thanks.

I have made diy baffles consisting of thin wire mesh rolled into a tube about 6” long, then packed out with stainless steel washing up pads. These live in each 3” exhaust tip behind a wire mesh cover held on with jubilee clips.
It does the trick reducing drone and is easily removed.
I believe I have tried every other imaginable option but this is the most effective.
