Morris Marina 1300 A Series Engine - The Great Hunt
Discussion
Hi All
Boyfriends engine went at the last race meeting (the main bearing caps so I am told has cracked in half)
Am now in a hunt to find another engine. Anyone know of anywhere I may be lucky to find one. Am based in North West Kent... Going to be a lot of foning around tomorrow I think...
Thank guys...

Somewhere I have a reference about converting Marina/Ital blocks to fit transverse mini engines, I think the reverse is do-able. That would enable you to run a Metro 1275 which would save buggering about. I have a 1275 MG block in my shed which I can photograph for you if you like. DO NOT LET HIM GET RID OF HIS CONRODS, if he decides to part them out, I will have them!!! (assuming they are midget ones), by the way, I thought all Marinas were A+ engines (stronger blocks), if I remember rightly the best block to have is an Ital 1300, they are stiffer somehow.
It's been ages since I buggered about with inline A Series engines, I've used all sorts of backplate conversions/swaps with different blocks but it was a long time ago, I think the bolts of a mini clutch housing pretty much accept the backplate of an inline engine, it might be something to do with the main bearing caps, you have to grind a bit off to get them to fit a mini gearbox, so the reverse should fit, if I am right. If you go to www.minimania.com/msgthreads.cfm there are a load of yanks which will be up on the detail of what I'm on about.
Good luck, Stu.
