Changing transmission fluid?
Discussion
Advice from anyone with a mechanical background would be much appreciated...
I've got a 2011 Merc 250d with 130k on the clock.
A few weeks ago the auto gearbox started playing up, not shifting up the range properly, restricting the revs and clunking hard when I came to a stop.
It hadn't been driven much at the time and it appears to have stopped now.
However I realised the transmission fluid hasn't been changed for at least 100k miles!
Some advice online says if you haven't changed on a high mileage car, don't do it at all and leave well alone because new fluid could provide less friction, and more problems.
It seems counterintuitive to me. Has anyone heard of this or followed this advice?

Is the level correct, low fluid can cause issues.
As it's playing up you have nothing to lose by changing the fluid & any filters.
