Juddering and EML after remap
Discussion
A few months ago the amber EML came on in my Navara. Was advised it was the EGR and had a remap done.
At random times it then started juddering whilst driving with the red EML flickering. Was told it needed blanking off too so bad this done.
Whilst less frequent, the juddering and EML is still happening.
Any ideas?
Thanks in advance

Actually mapping the EGR out is common practice on diesels and often the engine is grateful too but like everything the job is only good if the remap is sound or the person doing the flash knows what they are doing corrupted or checksum errors etc on poor flashes does what the OP'er maybe encountering

Maybe it's common practice, but would be a Major category MOT failure when detected according to 8.2.1.1(a). So essentially you'd be gambling whether it would be possible to see it within the restrictions of an MOT test, and whether the tester would take the trouble to look.EML flickering is very odd, it should either be off or on.
Although some ecu's will report misfires by flashing the light.....not sure I'd call that flickering.
fk knows what the dodgy remap has done or hidden though. These unscrupulous people can make fault diagnosis a nightmare by deleting all sorts of fault code reporting in the ecu.
As has been said, go somewhere reputable, have a standard map loaded in and fix the problems properly. Although unfortunately you can never get back the 100% correct map that should be in your ecu, it would just be another generic map your ecu is supposed to have.
Bodging things is rarely the best outcome.
Although the problem could be something completely unrelated to the remap. What fault codes are currently stored or offered ?
