Is it just the photo or is it really really tiny ?

IS there a reason being given that some places cannot do basic machining work on it ? Is there something odd about it ?

dont know, just a standard size old 4cyl engine.

i have one place local thats good but only do head work, which is a same as there good. one more and tere great apparently but 8 month back log.
Nothing odd, just a standard engine but for marine parts added. internals as same as the car engines there converted from..

Yes, in the past. Decked and rebored a Crossflow block, skimmed the head, installed hardened valve seats, reground a billet crank, balanced the assembled crank and flywheel/clutch, and line bored the camway, including pressing in new cam bearings.
