How can I find the correct fuel filter for my w212. I phoned Mercedes and they gave me the correct part but it was £90. They said they can't give me the part number as its against company policy. There seems to be lots of different variations of this filter. Some with a sensor on others without. Mine has a sensor.
Has anyone got access to an online checker?

You could put your VIN into an online version of Merc's EPC such as https://www.catcar.info/mercedes/?lang=en&l= but it isn't the easiest thing to find your way around.

Various parts suppliers allow you to enter your reg number into their websites, plus some of the parts manufacturers have online catalogues where you can search using your reg or model details.

I'll try the cat car link as eurocar puts etc brings up several filters which are all different.

Pretty sure there’s enough flex in the hoses / wires to lift clear enough of the housing to read the number.
The clips on the hoses are reusable- they are clic r type and you need appropriate pliers.

Look at your old filter. Or just buy the one from Mercedes.

Does anyone know what the pipe sticking out is. This is a replacement part for mine but this one seems modified

That’s how they come - maybe it’s for connecting a pump for bleeding?
Mann are OEM for fuel filters.

I think one is a feed from the tank to the filter, one is a feed to the fuel pump and the other one is the return line.
