Looking at a 2011, 70k 1.6 Astra petrol that's pretty immaculate with good service history. Took it for a drive and everything seemed fine. Looked unde the bonnet and noticed the coolant bottle was full of mayo. There's none on the bottom of the oil cap or on the dipstick, just in the coolant. Suggestion was its the oil cooler, which is apparently pretty common on these.
It's from a friend in the trade (and was about to go to auction). Is the oil cooler replacement an expensive job and is there likely to be secondary damage.
(It's getting picked up for auction tomorrow hence needing to know today if its worth risking it)

If that is all it is, they aren't too expensive/difficult to do.

Yep very common problem - my Astra had this a couple of years ago on a 1.8 vvt. Took me around 4 to 5 hours to swap in a new one, just take your time with the bolts on the exhaust manifold as they can snap. Pretty straight forward job, just tedious.

And a very very thorough flushing of the entire cooling system, and checking all hoses for damage caused by the oil in the system

It'll be a garage job, I have neither the time or the tools.
What's the likely cost at a garage?

I was quoted £400 by Vauxhall a couple of years ago as my local wouldn't entertain the idea. Hence why I did it myself - it really is not that hard.
