First and foremost, I will state the car does still need tracking checked, but it is roughly right......

Wheel upgraded but not excessive, more a tweak that going for the rubber band look.

As standard, car ran 185-60 14 on a 5.5J rim with 39mm offset

I fitted 195-59 15 on a 6J rim with 50mm offset plus a 15mm spacer so net 35mm offset.

Car tramlines and can wriggle somewhat, barring the tracking proviso above have I calculated the offset correctly - or have I made it too wide? Idea was to split the extra rim width between the inner and outer edges

I suspect you mean 195 55 15.

You should have gone to 195/50/15, see here. https://tiresize.com/tyre-size-calculator/

Although I doubt the change is the issue.

Firstly, you need to (hopefully) find what your tyre pressures should now be, as they will/should be different & see if that makes a difference, look for another model of the same car that may have that tyre size/profile as an option.

Secondly, I suspect the actual issue is that the change has just made the car much more sensitive & a full alignment should hopefully make a huge difference.

Thirdly, the post should have been put in "wheels/tyres/suspension" as it is nothing to doe with engine/drivetrain.

Thank you. Yes I did mean 195/50-15. That is what I fitted. I was more wondering about the offset, but I do think it should be ok but happy to be enlightened wink

Apologies for the wrong section. Mods please move

The change in offset would make absolutely negligible difference.

Thank you. I did think so, maybe a couple of mm of the spacer if being pedantic however I think the wheel should be sitting correctly spaced on the hub..

You should be able to give your offset calculations a quick sanity check by looking at the position of the outer face of the rim relative to the car bodywork.
