Hoping someone can give some input on this rather odd problem. I have a newly built z22SE forged engine it had a rocker cover leak and when I took the cover off found these wear marks

The engine has just been run in done around 700 miles total. I bolted it back together and did a trackday last week with no problems but obviously the don't look right.

They are comp cams. I can't get any communication going with them they seem to just be ignoring me.

Any suggestions welcome!

The marks on the cam look superficial, oil marks or staining from the oil being hot and drying in a pattern on the lobes ? It doesn't look like scoring

Is the lobe smooth to touch?

That is hard enground into the lobe ?

Or is that it simply with the cover removed ? not wiped clean ?

As above, does it feel smooth ? and presumably it was not like that before ?

Sometimes when the coating's worn off they can look like that. Did they have a dark coating on them?

The centre where the RFF roller is running looks OK. Some very light lines down the middle but nothing to worry about after 700 miles.

Odd deviation on that particular lobe but the one next to it looks better.

I'd say it's all OK.

Pretty cool that you can see where the load increases and the contact patch widens. thumbup
