Hi does anyone know if a 2022 Renault Master requires a timing belt or cam belt change in its lifetime? I’ve seen a 2022 Master with 90k miles for sale but it’s been serviced at an independent (non-Renault) garage and the only thing that concerns me is if it’s missed anything? Cheers

If it has a belt, obviously it will need changed at some point.

They are wear and tear service items

That’s why I’m asking - I don’t know if it has a belt or not. I had a van (might have been Mercedes) which didn’t need its belt changing as it was metal or something like that. I have no clue regarding technical stuff biggrin

Quick google brings up plenty of ads for timing belts/timing belt kits for Renault Masters but the only way to be sure is to ask the vendor.
Possibly with the reg or vin number a franchised dealer's parts dept might be able to give you the answer.

My Mercedes Sprinter has a timing chain, but whether all Mercedes vans have chains or belts I have no idea.

Thanks for replies. Not sure on engine just loosely assumed all 2022 Master diesel engines are the same apart from power output. I'll get the reg and ring Renault on Monday

Get the Reg and put it into eg EuroCarParts online parts look-up, that will tell you whether a belt kit or a chain kit is available.

The one we have in the workshop 2.3ltr is a chain. I’m sure they all are chains

Even if it has a chain, they too have a service life. Some vehicles seem to last shorter than belts lol, but usually a chain setup should last much longer.

90k is a lot of miles for one year old, although it is the sort of mileage I did in my van and took it to over 700k.

Maintenance and looking after it is everything. Hopefully they haven't driven it 90k and done absolutely nothing to it, which is possible.
