Renault Clio 1.4 16v 2006 head gasket

A friends daughter’s car has all the signs of head gasket failure, brown froth in the header tank, sump oil has similar colour oil although not frothy, compression test shows 2 cylinder with very low compression.
I scanned a Renault Clio forum and it was mentioned that the engine has liners and that just pulling the head off cam shift the liners, is this a know issue with these engines?
Any other traps to be aware of?
I’m good with engines on a hobby level and have rebuilt several but mostly Old Ford’s and Duratec/Mazda, I don’t want to get into bigger problems if I’m helping out friends…
