I am considering buying a Pulsar PTX3582r instead of a genuine Garrett at over twice the price

Anybody have any thoughts on these?

China vs legit ?

Really....with so many models and variations, even on that basis it would be hard to make comparisons as it's unlikely there are any nlike for like models

So exactly what Garrett ?

What usage ? What power goals ?

Chinese stuff has come a long way and some can be pretty decent. If it's a budget build, no huge goals then I'm sure it'll work fine

I hear some good reports on the Pulsar choo choo boi's. Chinese stuff has come a long way and its not all bad. The PTX3582r is simply a good copy of the Garrett GTX3583r with similar specs.

Ive ran a cheaper chinese turbo on my Rover 4.6 and had it upto 533 bhp at about a bar.
I dont want more power just yet but i do want a better spool up.

I drag race my TVR Chimaera and need to get the boost right for launch with a manual box. Any tips on this front much appreciated. Best ive done is 1.6 to 60 foot and 11.2 at 126

Unless the turbo is miles off.....more of this is down to what ecu control you have, and how capable any launch control features are.

Is the launch lighting tyres, or bogging ? or decent ?

best 60fts I had were into the 1.5x, but that was with the blower and just manually launching for the most part. Just never really been to Santa Pod with the turbo setup and things actually working properly to try a good launch. In fact I think I've only been there twice in the last 10 years or so lol
