Corsa E fan belt squeal AND chain rattle?

Hey everyone!

Finally picked up my new girl I’ve been eyeing up for a long time. She’s a 2017 1.4T 100bhp Sri-Vx with 37000 miles. I only had her for a day and noticed a rattle and a squeal coming out of the engine but only once it gets to normal temperatures. Fine on cold start.

I’ve contacted the dealer and will be taking her to the garage, however I don’t want to get fobbed off with ‘they all do it’ if they don’t all do it. This is more about the rattle - I wish I knew how to post a video, it sounds like my three cylinder Citroen C1 many years ago 😂 some forums are advising it’s how a chain driven engine sounds like, some say there’s a problem with it if its rattly (tensioners etc), some even suggested oil pump failure/low oil pressure and hence engine rebuild.

Just after opinions on those engines and whether the rattle is anything to worry about.

No, it definitely shouldn't rattle, but could be a tensioner rather than impending failure, so get it checked out.

Squeal could be an aux belt on its way out.
