Hi all,

I have a 2.0L petrol 2011 Audi Q5. The inlet camshaft has let go. The camshaft gear that the timing chain is on now just spins freely. The valves have not hit the pistons as a small fibre optic camera has been put through the spark plug holes to inspect them.

I was wondering if anyone knew of a good engine rebuild company in the Hertfordshire area that could replace the cylinder head along with new valves, guides, inlet camshaft and the other ancillaries along with a rough cost for materials and labour.

Regards,

You may get better luck by asking in General Gassing or the local part of the forum.

Far easier to buy a refurbed head and have someone put in on which is what most will want to do.

It could be that the cam gear is a friction fit, if this is the case it may be as simple as refitting a new bolt, timing the cam and testing compression to see if valves are bent.
Not enough info to make any sort of diagnosis but you can rebuilt heads after this sort of problem or buy a scrapyard engine, take the head off and refurbish that. A new head from a manufacturer would be hugely expensive
