My wife’s 21 plate Evoque P200, petrol with a small electric motor to give it a kick up the arse, has thrown up an engine warning light. A quick look in the online handbook, seems to suggest that’s it’s likely to be an ‘emissions related fault’ rather than a rod poking through the side of the block type issue. I think this is the Injenium engine, from memory. Does anyone have any experience or thoughts on this, and I’m guessing, hoping the car is under full warranty from JLR, it’s on a PCP lease from Guy Salmon.
Meanwhile, my 2001 Citroen C15 van is rattling along just fine

First thing to do is to plug a diag system in and find out what has triggered the error.

If it's under warranty let the dealer sort it out.

Dealer says can’t do anything until 17th January and it needs taking there…..
I don’t ‘do’ new cars, run and fix my own but that sounds a bit st, or actually a lot st

For a 2021 car with an engine warning light? I'd be having words with the dealer about that date and if they don't budget, with LR themselves.

Yes, that’s what I thought. They’ve also told her it’s ‘fine’ to drive it with the light on!?
What’s the f’kin point of the light then!!
I’ve told her to get that in writing

Either try a different dealer or if you have Land Rover assist call them, they come out much quicker and are usually given priority. Otherwise get it in writing and wait unit mid January. everything is really busy at the moment, we only have 5 mot slots left for the rest of this year and anything in the workshop is second week of Jan for us.

Thanks for reply. Just so I can try and understand, what’s the likely potential cause?
Wiring fault/Cat/O2 sensor/small mouse up exhaust pipe?

It could be anything... That's why you plug it into a computer and it will tell you what has generated the fault.

Give Land Rover Assist a call.

Get a cheap OBD2 dongle and a suitable app for your phone (eg. 'Torque') and then read the codes yourself and/or reset it and see if it comes back on.

As already said, call Landrover assist.

If they can't sort it they'll book it in and you'll get a priority booking.

Could be anything, the newer LR's can be a pain, they all want highspeed ethernet cables connecting and its hit or miss if the (aftermarket) diagnostics connect to the car.

Also, if getting worried about the EWL is causing this much hassle, then perhaps a JLR product is not for you.

(Of course, the EWL is orange meaning you can happily drive around with it on - it is when red lights appear you should think about phoning the authorities).

If something properly goes wrong the engine will go into limp mode.

Well, faith in the modern World slightly restored. Called JLR assist who came same day. Plugged it in, 2 software updates, and diagnosed a faulty O2 sensor, it’s got THREE! It’s apparently the one nearest the rear. Now I understand, I don’t think much harm can come to the car/engine.
