Hi,

Can anyone point me in the right direction to do some more research on diff problems? I've a Pug 205, which when cornering (under power) to the left makes a kind of whirring noise. This doesn't happen when going slowly, but will happen when pulling out of a T junction for example, and also when travelling quickly (even if there's not too much load on the engine).

The NSF wheel bearing is OK, as is the driveshaft & CV joint. Could it be related to a knackered diff?

Cheers

Is either "NSF" or "cornering to the left" a typo?

NSF = Near side front = front left. Cornering to the left is turning in the direction of the NSF. Not a typo to the best of my knowledge.

I think he was assuming that any noise from the left would be exagerated by a turn to the right, in a failed frint wheel bearing stylee

PS Ferg, just booked 8th Sep on the bike at Cadwell for £85, bargain

Sure about the CV? Many problems will only show up with lock on.

it's more of a whirr than a clicking type sound. Also, to the best of my knowledge, if it was the CV, would it not also occue at slow speed when moving around a car park for example?

thanks for the responses guys.

Inc. is right... I was just trying to find a polite way of saying "aren't you checking the wrong side?"

This may be useful, but I had my gearbox problem sorted by a place called A.M. Motors in Kingsbury,London NW9. (020 8206 2208)

They certainly know their Transmissions inside & out and would recommend them for any Gearbox probs.
