Carb Cleaning.
Discussion
Hi there,
I have heard in the past that it is possible to clean a carb in the dish washer. Has anyone done this and to what effect. Do I use a dishwasher tab when doing it, what kind of temp. etc....
Oh also can the carb go in whole or does it have to be stripped....???
Many thanks for any help.

Dishwashers have a quite powerful alkaline detergent which has an etching action on ally parts. I'd be wary of putting a carb in there in case it etched out the precise holes in the ally to a larger size. Also, you'd have to strip it down, and carb parts are small and light, so would probably get thrown all over the inside of the dishwasher by the force of the jets.
I'd strip it down by hand and clean it in acetone by hand, using no metal cleaning materials. Or trichloroethane if you can get it.
