My Galaxy (2018 TDCI) has an Ad Blue fault that Ford main dealer says is a knock sensor failure in the exhaust. Trouble is, this part is on back order. Would a knock sensor be a Ford only part or would a motor factor be able to supply?

I would possibly say it’s the vapour valve that injects the adblue. Very common and motor factors do sell them. We sell quite a few.

Maybe they meant "NOx sensor" ? I wouldn't expect a "knock sensor" to be located in the exhaust.

I’m glad you posted that. I was puzzling over why they would put a knock sensor there!

Don't know about Ford, but an electronic component in a Citroen is keyed to the car's electronic management system. I bought a reversing sensor (£20 off eBay) for my Citroen C5. Perfect fit in the bumper, plugs into the loom precisely, but doesn't work, although electrically it' was perfect. I had to buy a "Citroen" branded sensor (£100, and otherwise identical in every way) that apparently contains a chip that the EMS recognises.

If Ford uses that policy, then you have to buy a "Ford" part. It will still probably be made in Korea.

Control modules may need programmed in. Sensors will not.

It was indeed a NoX sensor. My bad hearing! Did wonder myself why a knock sensor would be there.

Anyway, I asked if they could source a pattern part from a motor factor. There was an admission they could, but didn't recommend, guarantee, etc.
A day later the Ford part had turned up.

Happy days. Just waiting for the bill now. yikes
