Hi All

I have an issue with my 2008 Volvo V70 D5. It seemed low on power and went in to limp mode. I carried on a few miles to get home, started it the next day and it now has zero power (less than limp mode), there was a message on dash saying engine needs attention (forgot the exact wording).

It is very lumpy at idle and will barely rev up and there seems to be an induction type blowing noise.

I have Vida / Dice so did a scan and came up with the following:
(ignore windows / central locking / steering wheel and oil pump. They are regulars and everything works fine.

My thoughts obviously are EGR valve? Hopefully not turbo.

I wondered if anyone had any further thoughts before I replace EGR.

Also, please can someone tell me what this part is, located on left side near cambelt cover? Imagine my delight when I had a look the plastic connector arm was just hanging down from the actuator.....I reconnected it to whatever it is connected to, hoping it would solve the issue but made zero difference at all......

Thanks in advance.

Cracked intercoolers are a common fault on these, the plastic ends are prone to splitting.

I think if there were a leak in the intercooler I would hear a hissing noise - not heard anything to that effect but I have heard they are a weak point.

I proceeded to disassemble and found the EGR valve totally clogged with crud and also the swirl flaps in a similar state.
