I appreciate that the whole shipping thing is a bit of an arse, but when you look at the cost of crate motors from the states I'd find it hard to choose between the two...
Having said that, I was dreaming and looking at the Merlin All Ally Big Block, 632Ci, 900Hp.. $US 16,995 ... That's less than 10K in english money!!!!
OK, I appreciate that a 632Ci BB isn't really a sensible proposition for a UK street car, but the smaller SBC's and others are really quite cheap (I'd give you figures, but my catalogues are in the office)...

Real Steel are excellent. Just phone them, order and the stuff arrives next day. Service is very consistent and they are geared for mail order not emails.
If you want lsx stuff they don't stock it but I may be able to help depending on what you want.

Not my experience with them. Whenever you order something, they always ask "when do want it", they never say "it will be with you tommorow" like i expect from anyone else.
Overall they are OK, just a bit pricey and unhelpful sometimes.
Thanks for the responses, I am trying to ascertain the right supplier, some I have looked at are just buying in from the US and forwarding on. I have heard that although good value when there is a problem it takes a while to resolve.
I am looking for a Chevy SB with about 300BHP, I like the look of the LS1 engine but its a bit to techno for my application as I will go the carb route, so maybe the ZZ4. Appologies if I have got the letters wrong.
I was considering buyin a second hand unit and one of the reconditioning kits I have seen for about £350.00, Anyone one gone down that route?
Cheers
