Last week at the Ring I was finding that my PS was becoming weaker during the day

The fluid is only two years old, so perhaps I need some cooling

Has anyone retro fitted a cooling loop, and if so any suggestions or advice?

why would high fluid temperature make the assistance "weaker"??


PAS oil coolers are for fluid life extension (ie longer life without changing the fluid)

I just assumed that things work better when they are not past their optimal temperature

Also, the PS was poor towards the end of the day when everything was very warm, but fine the next day when things had cooled

aeration.

I've definitely had problems with hot fluid before.

Whether a crappy loop does anything....not so sure. If in doubt fit a proper fluid cooler.

Yea, I've had trouble with boiling/vaporising fluid before on the buggy. I switched to better spec hydraulic fluid instead though.

European spec Z32 Nissan 300zxtt were fitted with a power steering cooler after pre-launch testing in Europe. Not fitted to other countries as sustained high speeds were not considered likely.

Sustained high speed would not be as much an issue as steep climbs and twisty roads with a heavy (and towed) loads and high temperatures.

Z32s don;t often tow anything! The fluid was boiling due to fast circulation and high under bonnet temperatures.
