Picked up a '10' plate Laguna yesterday afternoon.

Driven it for 100 miles & this morning I have got a 'Check anti-pollution system' message warning light on.

I'm working away from home from now until Sunday (unable too get back too the dealer until Monday) & I need the car for work.

Question is this - will I damage the engine if I drive the car with the warning showing?

Petrol or diesel?

Have had this on a 1.5dci Megane. Drove it for a thousand miles or so. Dpf needed a regen. Could also be a failing injector if it's diesel. Or possibly a lambda sensor if petrol.

No, I doubt you'll wreck the engine. It may go into limp mode though.

What it's telling you is there's too much pollution coming out of the exhaust. Which may or may not be true. It's French, they love a bit of drama, so make every warning sound like the end is nigh. Not quite so dramatic as the Italians though. laugh

2.0 petrol.

I'm working at RAF Fairford for the weekend with no possibility of getting out for a few hours.

Worried that I might wreck the engine within 24 hours of owning the car!!!

Have to wait until Monday.

Thank you for your swift response.

See if you can find someone in the area with a code reader for a bit more info.

You'll be right bab.

I'd bet its a lambda sensor. Or similar.

And I also bet the seller cleared the codes just before the sale.

Since he bought it from a dealer, I'd suggest this might not be the case. Anything is possible le though.

Either way, should be a straight forward fix.
