I have a 2001 Fiat Ducato 1.9td with a choice of naff gearboxes.
its only 5 meters long and the 1.9td engine pushes it along just fine but the gearboxes are less than satisfactory.
our one is off the road while i attempt to remove the gearbox and find out why it refuses to go in 2nd gear.
Last weekend we went to the classic car show at Lytham and we had to make it home lasting 1st gear and straight into 3rd .
I will repair the gearbox if i find it possible.
but what i would like to do is transplant a 2.0 liter hdi from a Citroen C5 into my motorhome.
problem being setting the ECU up as the motorhome is pre ecu.
any suggestions welcome and very much appreciated
best regards Gary

Before stripping down the gearbox, have you checked if there is any adjustment on the cables?

I know the engine/'box are completely different but for instance I have a 2011 v50 Volvo & it was getting harder & harder to get into second, meaning most of the time I was driving it like you are.

A bit of googling later & I found a procedure to set up the cable length & 15 mins later it was & still is perfect.
