There shouldn't be any significant amount of sludge, but if there is any I'd rather it stayed where it was rather than being carried into a small oilway and potentially blocking it.whats the reason for wanting to use it ? if the oil changes have been neglected then the damage is done
bit of black on the metal parts isnt really hurting anything if its running fine
if its caked in black gunge then i would have the rocker and sump off for a proper clean , then more frequent oil changes in the hope if cleans up a little
