Vauxhall Astra 14.7 cdti 2012 diesel reduced power
Discussion
Can anyone help? I have a Vauxhall Astra 1.7 cdti 2012 diesel, which is running on 2 cylinders and is powerless.
It started to mess around a little, and I thought it needed a run up the motorway to clear the emissions, but this did not happen as it lost all power and I had difficulty in getting home. It will not rev up passed 2500 rpms and puffs out lots of black smoke before it gets hot. The temperature goes up to normal much quicker than it used to, but it does not over heat and there is no water loss. The dash symbols are “reduced engine power” and “catalytic Converter” .
The local garage said it needed 2 new injectors, No3 and No 4 which they informed me was stopping it from regenerating the cleaning mode on the catalytic converter? I had the injectors changed and keyed in to the vehicle’s memory, which was a waste of time and money. It is exactly the same, and has made no difference.
The exhaust pipe was disconnected to see if it was blocked but that made no difference either. I have had the EGR valve off and checked and that is OK.
I don’t seem to be getting anywhere with the local garage, who is not a Vauxhall dealer, and resorted to a mobile mechanic as I am unable to move the car very far, who checked with his diagnostics machine and still was not able to fix it and said it was a head scratcher.
Is there anyone who could give me some advice or maybe even fix it for me? I’m just outside Lancaster.

Just because you had the injectors fitted & coded doesn't mean the problem is fixed, it means that (if that was the only issue) the cause is sorted.
If the issue has now caused a blocked DPF, the blocked DPF now needs fixing before the effects are gone.
Has the mechanic done anything else apart from fitting 2 injectors?
Did he actually diagnose they were the problem?
Did he check the wiring?
Did he check the glow plugs?
Did he do a compression check?
