My friend has a fiesta ST (15 ish years old). Driving along hears a clunk, loses gears and clutch. Gets out to a pool of oil and these lying in the road?

Safe to say that car is now scrap. Good luck with the repair bill. A whole new(secondhand) front axle might be cheaper than getting that diff fixed.

One too many burn outs and drifts?

In the context of a Ford Fiesta, what is a ‘front axle’?

The diff carrier has broken. What it needs is a substitute gearbox.

At no point did I say Live front axle. I said front axle in terms of sourcing the whole assembly. 2 front cv axles and diff from a scap yard. You might be able to get just the diff but if its spat cogs out what elde is damaged?

Does not exist on a Fiesta, and no post-word-wangling will correct that.

Just what I was thinking.

Can't be more than £500 and 4hrs Labour.

Impressive job to do that though.

The diff is an internal set of parts inside the gearbox so the gearbox casing for a start, hence why pretty much everyone else said he needs a gearbox.
