Type 9 Gearbox Shortening (for MG Midget)
Discussion
Looking at the ford type 9 5 speed conversion for my 1275 Midget and would like to avoid cutting the tunnel cover, I've seen you can shorten the input on the type 9 to fit in the original gear lever location but I feel I don't have the skill set to do this. The specific kit I was looking at is the frontline developments starter kit and source my own box as I feel the conversion would be cheaper this way although they do offer a box with a modified input the cost is steep and they do not offer a service to only modify the tail housing.
Can anyone recommend anywhere or anyone that can carry out this modification? I spend my time between the Peterborough and Oxfordshire areas so somewhere reasonably local to here would be ideal.

Thanks for the reply. When I say shortening the input I mean the gear lever input which can be cut out and welded further forward. I've attached a picture which should make it clearer, you can see the box at the top has been modified. I'll enquire with Gearboxman as they sound like they might be able to help and they're not too far away.
A little similar to this ?

Gearboxman do a lot of Ford stuff, I'm sure they've come across it before.
But if it is just that rear section and the shaft itself...I'm sure it wouldn't be [i]that[i/] difficult to do.
