I’ve looked at some you tube videos on this and some require a priming bulb etc to suck fresh diesel through and some say to just brim the filter bowl.
Can anyone confirm if you need to prime the system for best results?
Wouldn’t want to get the car stranded if it can’t be primed easily.
Car is the 163 Bhp 4x4 version.

If it has a priming bulb you would use it, if not then you can't, so just fill the bowl.

You would be best sure your battery is 100% charged before restarting as it can take a while to pull through.

Better still, ensure you have another car to hand & jump leads.

Thanks, no priming bulb on these unfortunately, I don't think they have a lift pump in the tank either.
Some choose to buy a priming bulb for this to help suck the fuel through.

Always worth sucking diesel through the filter, so the housing is primed and ready to go. If you need to fill the fuel filter housing, it can be possible to do bad things to your starter motor.
I'd use a vac pump on the output of the fuel filter housing, and get it primed.

I would use some means of priming it or filling the system as much as possible.

I would not be simply cranking it if it has no lift pump, it could take ages and cause harm.

I think we normally suck the fuel through, they can be a pain and we normally go with genuine.

Had to use a vacuum pump in the end to pull the fuel through, went reasonably well.
Not a fan of the filter design though.
