The colour of petrol...
Discussion
What does yellow petrol mean?
I recently drained some very(!) yellow fuel off a carb I was working on and the petrol can't have been in there more than 3 months.
The fresh petrol is of course clear.
Fuel tank and carbs spotless. Fuel lines replaced and pump only about 1yr old.
Is the yellow a sign of it having absorbed water somehow?

Maybe someone pee'd in it ?
Petrol naturally has a colour to it....are you saying whatever colour you are seeing is vastly different to new petrol ? that would seem odd and not anything I've ever come across before with any age of petrol*

- with the caveat some race fuels can be quite colourful

The colour difference is very clear. I'll get some pics. It is just basic premium unleaded. I went for the good stuff to keep the ethanol level of E5 rather than E10. The car itself is far from a performance machine with an optimistic 40bhp.Petrol naturally has a colour to it....are you saying whatever colour you are seeing is vastly different to new petrol ? that would seem odd and not anything I've ever come across before with any age of petrol*

Edited to add pic...

I would say the fuel on the left seems very clear ?
Perhaps yes the fuel on the right seems darker than normal petrol might be.
I've some UL and ethanol sitting in 2 jars with some bits of wire, hose etc in them as a longevity test. They've been in there for a couple of years now I'm sure.
The UL would be somewhere in the middle of your pics, but more towards the coloured side. The ethanol is clear ( 100% ethanol )
