Has anyone used Maxgear driveshafts?
Discussion
Evening,
My Honda Accord has developed a wobble under acceleration from 30-60. Outside of that, or if I'm not accelerating, its fine. Concenus seems to be that its a not uncommon issue, and is solved by replacing the driveshafts. Now it may only be one of them, but without changing each, its hard to know. A pair from Honda is just shy of £1k, but I've found aftermarket ones that are £240 for the pair. I don't really know anything about aftermarket part supplies, only really brake and service parts, so has anyone had any experience of Maxgear shafts? If I really need to, I'll pay the Honda price, it's just a bit hard to swallow for an 11 yr old car, that I've had for 7 yrs and so may be replaced in the next yr or 2.
Any views welcome.
Thanks

It would be equally hard to swallow that a driveshaft is the cause, as they would be rotating at the same speeds whether at steady speed, or accel/decel.
How have you come to this conclusion ? It would be rare for driveshafts to be the cause of such things, and certainly not both of them.

Apparently I ts wear in the CV joint. It's seems to be not uncommon on the Accords. At least there are enough guys on owners groups who had similar problems and replacing the shafts got rid of all the vibration under load.
I've tried everything else cheaper and easier. I've moved wheels around, had the wheels refurbed and had new tyres and balanced, rebuilt all the calipers and changed all the discs. The final suggestion seems to be the shafts.

The driveshafts could well be the issue; they’re the cause of the same symptoms on Passats.
I would say it’s possible to do a bit more investigation before firing up the parts cannon.
Engine mounts and track rod ends, especially those with compliance bushes built in to them can cause wobble at certain speed and load conditions.
Even the cv joins should be something you can test if there’s enough wear.
I’ve had good results with driveshafts from j&r. I don’t know if you’ve looked there but it might be worth the time.
Some people have had poor results with them, especially on Ford Focus models of a certain era, but if you can find the offending driveshaft (if it is that) it might be worth the saving to try them.

Shafts and joints are 2 separate items.
Unless a shaft is bent, or a balance weight is missing ( larger or 2 piece shafts sometimes have them )...the shaft itself is likely fine unless somehow the splines on the end are worn.
It would be more common just to replace the CV joint, if the joint is deemed a problem. And whichever side is causing the problem.
But different motorfactors etc will sell different brands, most common around here are Shaftec. Good ? Bad ? other....well they're usually ok.
