Mondeo 1.6 tdci top end refurb

I have the chance of picking up a 15 plate as above with a noisy top end & have no special experience of the engine.

I have done a few head gaskets, several timing belts, clutches etc as well as the usual other stuff in/around cars & am wondering if there is a likely cause/repair & where it could fall on the scale of difficulty, or is it best left to the professionals?

Unfortunately I currently have no specifics on exactly what the noise is & it is a few hours drive for me to get to it to confirm more details.
