Peugeot 3008 Dual Mass Flywheel
Discussion
Have just been told that my DMF on my Peugeot 3008 is coming loose - AGAIN. After the dealership supposedly fixed it in 2018 it is coming loose again.
Last time I agreed to split the cost but not this time. What sort of poor design and/or workmanship allows something like that to go wrong not once but twice.
To date I have loved Peugeot’s but the 3008 is proving really bad. Not just this issue but a number of more minor bands.
Be warned!

A bit sparse on details.
So when they "fixed" it...exactly what did they do ? Because the only fix, is a replacement. Was it replaced ? and with what ? genuine part ? other ?
And between 2018 and now ? have you done 10 miles, 10,000 ? 100,000 ? more ? other ?
Are you an abusive driver who is hard on parts ?
DMF's are a wear and tear item, yes they are rubbish, they don't last as long as they should. etc etc
C'est la vie so they say

Hi there,
Have now done 89,000 and very few in the past couple of years (thanks to COVID). Can’t remember what the mileage was when the issue first arose but that was 3 to 4 years ago.
The car is one of those automatics that’s not a real auto, and I don’t drive it hard when I do.
The fix was done by a registered Peugeot agent so I can only assume they did the job right. (Or should have done).
Now I am concerned that if I were to expend money on getting it fixed, how long before it happens again!
Thanks

I work with DMFs as part of my job, for your application there can be either a Valeo system or a LuK system fitted as long as the whole lot is replaced as a set.
We see more failures on the Valeo system, but not by that much.
What many garages do not investigate (as it is rather time consuming and not chargeable in most cases), is the reason for the failure in the first place. Cause and effect. The effect is the failed DMF but why?
This can actually be for a wide range of seemingly unrelated things including weak battery, dodgy injector/EGR/other ... the list goes on. Obviously user input/use is a big factor, ie how it is being driven but less of a issue on a Semi-Auto application.
A good example is the high failure rate on the Sachs module system fitted to BXE/BKC/BLS etc VW 105ps engines.
Sachs eventually released a TSB stating that one of the main causes of DMF failure is a weak battery. If the battery is struggling to hit 300rpm on start-up, it affected the planetary spring and over time would see the unit go out of specification for rotation and rock.
I believe it is quite the job to replace on your 3008.
None of this helps I understand, just me typing to get the day in lol.
