Pulsing vibration

Hi all, I had my car in today to have the front wheel bearings changed. I was getting a pulsing vibration what sounded like front left and some feedback via the steering wheel. This was noticeable between 35-70mph. Sounds rotational. Turns out wheel bearings weren’t the issue. All drive shafts seem fine also. Recent discs and pads all around, tyres have been change along with wheels but the noise is still there.

Had a new dsg gearbox at Audi in 2019, 15k covered since.
They drained a little front diff oil and it revealed some tiny metal shavings.
What sort of noises etc could I expect from a front diff on its way out? I might need to bite the bullet and get it all striped down for further inspection

I'd have thought diff related problems would tend to be load sensitive.
