Does anyone know if fitting an Alpha Gold engine management kit will increase the fuel economy of a 1.7 x-flow?

Compared to twin DCOE webers? Yes, it should so, but it'll take a fair old mileage to recover the cost, so don't fit engine management just for increased economy!

What is the current spec of the engine? Hot Crossflows with big carbs and a lumpy cam can be fairly atrocious...I think I get about 20-22 mpg out of my Sylva (very light and fairly aerodynamic) in road use....not all that different to my 5-litre TVR

I used to run a 1760 crossflow on twin 40s.
Gave 18-22mpg in a Lotus 7.
7 gallon tank with dipstick makes you 'aware'.

Well, it's true life was hard in my day, but always had plenty in the tank then.

Quick question:
Would spinning the wheels through the gears up to 80 count as town or motorway miles ?

Think you'll know what I mean!
