C4 Clutch Failure

Hi all, quick bit of advise citroen have told my friend his clutch has failed due to wear and tear. It is just over 3 years old and only covered 17k miles. By no means ragged or treated harshly. I'll try and upload some pics the techs have provided.

Some driving lessons perhaps ?

A clutch doesn't get into that state without some huge driver error.

Haha had a tell him to get an auto of a mate. I'll have to tell him to bite the bullet. Must say I have never been with him driving but the consensus is that he must be riding the clutch.

Definitely by the looks - no discolouration or anything weird going on, just worn completely through all the friction material and the fixings have knackered the flywheel...

Out of interest how old is the owner? A relative of mine developed sciatica in his left leg at about 60, went through 3 clutches in a year, then realised it was a biological not mechanical issue! Swapped to an auto and drove perfectly competently until he was well past 80.

Well he’s had his money’s worth out of that friction disc, anyway...!

Modern autos are great...that said, a lot of "autos" are variants of an automated manual which are perhaps not so great. But probably still better than a less able driver.

Even DCT's there can be good and bad. But a true auto would be the most forgiving

He's 28 but on the bigger side, lives in a hilly area so could be a combination of aggressive hill starts andaybe even accidentally resting his foot on the clutch.

Definitely a learning curve for him this one bite the bullet and think more carefully about the clutch pedal.

Fix it, sell it and buy a good auto. And don't look back.
