Hi,i have a 1995 Peugeot 1.8 sedan(you can stop drooling now!)and there's a problem with the fast idle valve/choke/ whatever they call it on this model.Even when the car is warm the choke is still partially on,about 1200 rpm, somewimes higher than this, sometimes it will idle normally?.When stationery at lights etc,i have to dip the clutch, let it out slightly and the revs 9 times out of ten will settle down to normal idle, thing i don't know ofcourse is whether the choke/enrichment thingy is throwing in extra fuel during normal driving,i have a feeling it probably is as it's using quite a bit of fuel at the moment.I have lubricating anything that pivots around the throttle area.Anyone help?,thanks!

It won't have a choke. What it will have is a sensor package and ECU which emulates a chokes functions (in very simple terms).

From what you've described I'd check coolant temp sensor, Idle Control Valve (clean with carb cleaner or replace) and Lambda sensor.

Best Regards
Matt

does the engine revs up when you turn on the car?
how about when you turn your steering wheel when standing in place?
