Hi can anybody help
i have a fiat tc 2ltr running on 40mm twin jenvey throttle bodies and a DTA ecu none of the mapping has been changed
whats happening is engine starts and runs but very very rich if let tick over plugs foul up and drops cylinders remove plugs clean and dry and then same happens again
Engine has new correct plugs new leads timing spot on
could it be injectors or to high fuel pressure i have checked injectors and they shut off ok

Is there some sensor or something that has failed, so the ECU thinks the engine is cold and dumps fuel in to make it rich until the engine warms up - except its in a permanently 'cold' state, therefore permanently rich?

Might be worth asking the mods to move your thread to the Home Mechanics section if you don't get further replies.

He is in the right group IMO have you checked the fuel pressure at the rail is what's expected, after market fuel pressure regulators can be far from reliable IME , also check coolant temps are correct via software for your ECU , it's a start

Check for air leaks/exhaust leaks.

Could be that the ECU thinks it is lean & is dumping fuel in to richen the mixture causing over-fueling.

What does this ECU use for load ref MAP or Alpha N ? do you have 4 small pipes interconnecting and leading to the ECU via single pipe or to an external module?

vac leaks and fuel pressure first, then injection timing. What is your target AFR vs measured AFR?

Is this a new fault on a setup which had been running ok previously, or is it a new setup?

So really, the ecu has probably never been tuned for this setup, so you cannot determine whether it's just running bad as it's never been tuned, or there is a fault of some kind.
As it seems most of the package is unknown to you ?

So there maybe isnt a problem, it just needs tuned...as you're saying you have never actually seen it run correctly ?
