Been visiting the Outlaws, M-i-L has a K plate 1.4 petrol Peugeot 106. Been a good little car but has started to give probs. Will stall or "kangaroo" for no immediate reason. Been around it, repaired a couple of breather hoses etc. Main prob now seems to be cutting out if you JUST touch the throttle. There appears to be a solenoid with a plunger that touches the throttle quadrant. Is this an anti stall device?, it would appear to vibrate the quadrant and let in air when the throttle is closed. Looks quite strange to see the throttle opening and closing on its own. Tick over when hot is 750rpm. I believe that if I got this up to about 850, the stalling prob might be resolved but the throttle screw would appear to be sealed with a plastic cap?. There is also a pin on the quadrant that sits on the solenoid plunger. This is non adjustable?
Any advice greatly recieved.

could possibly be the amplifier on the distributor, but this would not explain Kangarooing, but if the amplifier is breaking down this could cause other irratic sudden stalling, this is a very common problem on this engine. If the car has a carb could also be a jet getting blocked, you could try a can of carb/ Injection cleaner. Hope this helps

A friend's wife's 206CC (1.6 petrol) had somthing similar - it would splutter and nearly stall when trying to pull out of junctions, for no reason. Only occasionally, nothing consistent. Was in and out of the garage for about 2 years before they chopped it in for a 2.0 CC which has none of the problems.

Apparently it's not uncommon, and I'm wracking my brains to find out what it's supposed to be.

What I do know is they changed loads of stuff - up to and including head-off and checking for sticking valves. Also prof'l injector cleaning

Sounds like yours may be similar...only worse. Good luck.
