Bung popped out!!?

According to a recent conversation I had with Iguana (Alex) on stupid things people do with cars it's just a clutch inspection hole and the bung keeps the cr*p out. Don't worry about it but get another one if it bothers you. As how it fits in with the conversation I was having... don't try and top up your gearbox oil through it.

Yeah agree with previous poster. The plastic bung is screwed into the gearbox casing and is meant for the VW timing equipment to screw into for setting up the timing.
If you turn the engine over slowly by hand youll see a "zero" stamped into the edge of the flywheel which is the TDC position. Youll also see a line that represents the timing mark.
