GEAR BOX ISSUE ON A 2016 SEAT LEON 1.2 TSI

Hi,
Can someone please help me with the problem at hand. I bought my car from a salvage company with front end damage the car as all been repaired all the wiring as been repaired. I payed £700 just for the wiring and broken bits replaced. The gear box was damaged originally so I spend £600 and bought another one. I have been told by the electricians that the gear box is the wrong one that they need the original one as I would need the megatronics to re-programme the gear box. The garage that my car was at threw the original gear box away. If I change the gear box and the ECU would that solve my problem?.
I would really appreciate someone to advice through the forum
