OK, sorry, I know it is not exactly engine related, but this is a general "how to get something off' thread.

Trying to remove the wiper arms on our TT and the buggers won't budge. I have removed the nut on the end of the arm/spline (and put it back on loose so I don't hurt myself when the arm does come off. Lots of WD40 later and much pulling and levering and nothing is moving. I can't use a normal pulley (looked at the local motorfactors and they won't hold onto the underside of the arm as it is too small.

There is a plastic scuttle panel under the wiper arms which I don't want to damage so I need to be careful how much brute force I use.

(Reason for wanting to remove wiper arms is to fix something in the wiper mechanism, can't get at this until I remove the arms/plastic scuttle under the arms.

Any suggestions?

Hi. The way to remove these bloody things is to push down on the arm where it meets the pivot on the rest of the wiper arm, then lift it back up. Then push it back down, effectively rocking it.
After a few attempts (and dont go ape on it ) it should release easily.

Hope this helps.

Got them off in the end with a little more persuasion. One of the wiper mech rods has corroded and broken off, lovely.

If there's one part of your car you would hope would be waterproof...
