'89 MkII VW golf Temp gauge

Hello tec heads.

I have a MkII VW golf GTI 16valver. The temp guage has packed up. Fan still operates when water is hot enough.

Any ideas PLEASE???????????

The fan switch and the temperature sender for the gauge are independent. Either your sender's disconnected, knackered, or the gauge has had it, probably the former. The sender is located on the RH side of the engine as you stand in front of the open bonnet, screwed into the side of the head.

If its the gauge though, replace the whole clock assembly (if you an get one now!) had the same problem with mine few years back.
