Put a flamer kit on your car if that's what you want.

Unburnt fuel in the exhaust. Not something you'd want to happen on a road car (especially one with a catalyst).

If it really is your bag, then a flame kit as mentioned.

alternativly the engine can be re-mapped to leave fuel in on the overrun and a bit of spark retard as well, this should then provide lots of pops, bangs and the occasional flame.
Along with bits of melted catylst......

Rigged up some on the PDC Capri. 2 spark plugs about 15cm into the 3" tailpipes, a kenlowe fan motor with a cam and points welded to it from a mini distributor, the output of that driving a 2CV coil, HT leads to plugs, switch on and hey presto. Then rear windscreen washer, filled with petrol , output tube into T-piece, plastic tubes into brake lines, then homemade jets threaded into the exhausts about 30cm back.

A lot of the RV8 engined Precat TVR's have flames on the overun, my V8S throws flames out regularly

The knack is to accelerate hard and then slowly change up and then foot full on the gas in the next gear?

What duration cams to they run? TVR RV8's?

I would have thought it was down to long cams and retarded ignition on the overrun, as well as a nice big, clear exhaust.

More to the point and in respect of the tread title, not so much as "How?" as " Why?".

Whats the point of it? All itll do is singe your rear bumper.

I have this ethos when it comes to modifying stuff: " If it dosent enhance the performance and you can do without it, Chuck it in the bin....or flog it on Ebay..."

Works every time too. That way you keep the car functional, fast and fettled, not like the pleb with the Toyota Carina i saw earlier tonight with so many stickers, dangly things, lights, bling, and other tasteless go slower tat hanging orf it that it must have done 0-60 in 20 minutes.....

Ahh Mungo me old dear! I reckon youd be right if they stuck out by a foot two, but usually there exists a negative pressure area around the exhaust outlet which fumes get drawn into. Hence on a lot of diseasels youll see the sooty remnants on the back bumper.
If its kicking out flames, it may well impinge, causing the aforementioned singe...
